A company called A DATA is announcing a new SD card that has a bi-stable display integrated into the card. The new SD card known as the Info SD is set to release at CES 2007.

Bi-stable means simply that the display can still show the capacity of the card when not plugged into a reader and without electricity. The display does not show the capacity in real-time, but rather updates each time the card plugs into a card reader or device like the camera. This sounds like a neat way to know how much space remains on your SD card. If you are like me and you have a number of SD cards laying around at times you end up having to insert several till you find one with space left on it. No word on pricing, but as with any new tech it will increase the price of the SD cards but how much of a price increase is unknown. Buy your own SD card here. Story and image via OhGizmo!
