If you are the slightly neurotic, paranoid type with a bit of Howard Hughes germophobe in your personality you will be glad to hear about this handheld germ-eliminating light. The handheld product claims to kill 99.99% of E-Coli, staphylococcus, salmonella and other germs that cause cold and flu.

Ten seconds is supposedly all the time it takes to disinfect surfaces from ¼” to 4” away from the surface. The bulb is rated for 5000 hours of use and runs off of 2 AAA batteries. The light is small and compact enough to take with you most anywhere and measures in at 3 ¾” H x 1 ¾” W x 1” D.I’ll point out here that the product description over at Hammacher Schlemmer uses the words sterilize and disinfect in the product description. This light disinfects and doesn’t sterilize surfaces and you have probably seen similar tech at your doctor’s office in the form of the UV lights that hang on the wall to kill air born germs.
