Faud Abazovic, formerly of The Inquirer, has a post at his new site Fudzilla that claims to show 3DMark06 numbers for the ATI R600. Faud says he has an early prototype in his lab and has benchmarked the card.

The test machine uses an Intel QX6700 and 2GB of RAM. Faud says the R600 scored 11,400 using ATI 8.35 driver. If this is accurate then the R600 might be more of a challenge to the G80 than the NVIDIA fans thought possible.Faud also says that he has tested an overclocked 8800 GTX and the resulting 3DMark06 score was 11100. I reviewed the XFX 8800 GTX XXX on a slower Intel X6800 dual core processor as compared to the QX6700 Faud uses for his tests of the R600 and scored 11138. I’m guessing Faud didn’t use the same CPU for the numbers on his G80 as he did with the R600 since the QX6700 quad core scores much, much better in 3DMark than the X6800. What I am saying is that I think these numbers are a bit deceiving and the G80 on the same QX6700 CPU would pull ahead of the R600 from what I am seeing.
