Rod Baber is not an ordinary man. A long-time
enthusiast of climbing, Baber is heading to Mount
Everest so he can make a call from his cell phone
at an altitude of over 7500 metres.
He's been getting used to the thinned levels of oxygen for around a month by making numerous practice attempts at scaling the mountain. No one has ever made a cell phone call from a terrestrial location so far up before. Thanks to a new cell phone tower in the area, though, Baber could be the first person to successfully say "Can you hear me now?" to someone miles away from the top of Mount Everest. If you happen to be the person he's going to call, just make sure you turn your ringer on.
