Nielsen/NetRatings has released new demographic figures and they confirm what people have been predicting since the beginning of time -- young women are now the most dominant UK Internet users.

According to the figures, women between the ages of 18 and 34 account for 18% of all web-connected Britons. It might not sound like a lot, but considering the age span and gender specification, it's actually the top demo in the entire list.The same group also apparently spend 27% more time online than males of the same age. "This represents a seismic shift from the early days when the internet was the domain of the techno-geek," said Nielsen analyst Alex Burmaster.

I don't know, though. I think what's really happening here is we're changing the definition of techno-geek. Let me just say to all the young women reading this story - may the force be with you.
