Intel and Ziba Design in Portland developed a new ultra-thin notebook design dubbed Intel Mobile Metro Notebook.

The super hot notebook is only 0.7inch (17.8mm) thin and weighs 2.25 pounds. The prototype shown in the photo might even be not that far away from production.

The Sony Vaio TZ90 (available on Dynamism) measures 0.89inch (22.5mm). The difference is almost 5mm and Ziba Design did a great job on making the design very clean to let the notebook appear even thinner; especially as shown in the photo above when its opened.A PC maker is supposed to bring the Intel Mobile Metro notebook to the market later this year.
Besides that it has WiFi nothing is known so far in terms of CPU, HDD, GPU and RAM.
More details in this story on BusinessWeek. They also feature a gallery with more hi-res photos of the RAZR-thin notebook.
