The New York Times runs a story on the fact that the iPhone does not have a mechanical keyboard.
Quote: "There is a billion-dollar gamble underlying Apple’s iPhone, it lies in what this smart cellphone does not have: a mechanical keyboard."
It definitely is a risk to move completely to a new input paradigm. The touch screen devices on the market currently are not a mass market hit. From what I saw so far, the chances are good that the early customers will not return the iPhone. There is a 30 day return policy.
