If you are concerned about how much energy you use in your home and want a way to monitor your power usage Energy Joule will do the trick. This gadget plugs into your home AC outlet and offers you lots of different bits of info.

In addition to a bar scale showing your energy usage, you also get a bar scale showing how much your energy is costing you. The large number in the center is the forecasted high temp for your area this day and the weather forecast is shown in the form of simply pictures.

The background color of the gauge glows to tell you when electricity is more or less expensive; red means power is very expensive right now; yellow means moderately expensive and green is the cheapest time to use more power. The device gets its data over a pager network and doesn’t measure anything in your actual home. Beta tests of the Home Joule will begin this month in NYC, with no word on when or if the service will roll out to other cities in the future. Via AmbientDevices
