Japanese Nihon Kohden offers a new compact and lightweight automated external defibrillator that guides the user through the procedure of applying the life saving device.

The AED 1200 is easy to use. After opening the lid, you place the electrode pads on the patient’s chest and push a button.
The Nihon Kohden AED 1200 measures 270×74×246mm and weighs 2kg.
The sells for 399,000 yen (~$3,500). I cannot quite figure out why the price of this defibrillator is so much higher than comparable defibrillators, for instance the Philips HeartStart Home Defibrillator which sells for a third of the price.
