Along with the announcement that the MacBook Air is now shipping Apple also announced that the software update to allow movie rentals on the Apple TV is not going to be ready for another two weeks.

The software update could very well be the killer application the Apple TV needs to fix the languishing sales of the device. However, Apple will need better movies if it’s to really work well.
