Palm says its smartphone called the Centro will launch in the UK towards the end of February 2008. The Centro weighs only 100g and has a full color touch screen similar to the world beating Apple iPhone.

The Centro has a 320 x 320 pixel colour screen and supports up to 65k colours. The Centro runs Palm’s OS 5.4.9 and features Bluetooth v1.2. Onboard memory is 64MB and the phone features a 1.9 megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom and the ability to capture video.

The battery is a removable 1150mAh lithium-ion good for four hours of talk time. Memory expansion via microSD cards of up to 4GB is supported. "People want more functionality from their phones and Centro delivers all the vital communication and organization needs without compromising on design," commented Roy Bedlow, vice president of Palm EMEA. The Centro will be priced at £199 including VAT.
