New start-ups are already working on the next generation of optical storage that will replace Blu-ray at some point.

Kaai and Soraa are new start-ups that work on LED technology that exploits gallium nitride, which is also the basis for existing blue LEDs.

One of the founders is Mr. Nakamura who invented the blue LED in the early 90ties.
Details on what the new blue LED technology would improve is not revealed yet.
