Google and Dr. Peter H. Diamandins announced this week that ten teams are now signed up to compete for the Google Lunar X PRIZE with a $30 million purse. The contest requires the teams to design, build and launch a craft capable of traveling to the moon.

Once the crafts reach the moon they must land and be able to move 500 meters across the lunar surface while sending back at least 1GB of images and video.

The ten teams registered to compete include: Aeronautics and Cosmonautics Romanian Association (ARCA), Astrobotic, Chandah, FREDNET, LunaTrex, Micro-Space, Odyssey Moon, Quantum3, Southern California Selene Group, and Team Italia.
