Reports are coming in that the popular social networking site Facebook has seen its visitor’s slump for the first time in 17 months. According to Pocket-lint, Facebook’s visitors dropped from 8.9 million in December to 8.5 million in January.

However, they point out that Facebook still grew its audience by 712% in January. Perhaps the drop was due to less time spent online in January than December; it’s really anyone’s guess.

MySpace also saw a drop in visitors of 5% in the same time period. That seems to suggest something more category wide as a reason for the visitor drop rather than an issue with the site.
