Rockstar has been fighting a prolonged battle against the BBFC to obtain a rating and release its Manhunt 2 game. The title was refused a release classification twice by the BBFC. Despite the selling ban it was easy to obtain a copy of the game in the UK according to some stories.

"It is now clear, in the light of this decision, and our legal advice, that we have no alternative but to issue an '18' certificate to the game," said BBFC Director David Cooke. Rockstar mounted a massive defense against the ban that was blamed on fear that the game would cause violent behavior in players.

The cornerstone to Rockstar's defense was that there was no concrete proof that video games lead to violent behavior. There is no concrete release date for the game at this time, but you can bet that after the long and drawn legal battle to get the game released it will sell more copies than if the BBFC hadn’t started fighting Rockstar to begin with.
