Samsung has announced that a low cost version of its WMPC called the Q1 Ultra will be launched in the UK at the end of March. The rig will compete more closely with the ASUS Eee in price.

Originally getting your own Q1 Ultra would run you around the £2000 area. Samsung says the education-focused Q1 Ultra will cost a mere £399. The Q1 is a touch screen device that runs Windows Vista.

To get the machine at the low price point the cheap Q1 will lose its dual camera and get a smaller hard drive. Who knows if the kiddies the Q1 education version is meant for will prefer the thumb style keyboard, or a more traditional layout like the Eee.
