After Microsoft cut prices on its Xbox 360 console last week sales for the system shot up by 40%. Sony isn’t to be outdone and will release a bundle of its PS3 next week priced at £299.

The new pricing schedule for the Xbox 360 line puts the Arcade version at £159, the Premium model is £199 and the Elite model is £259. Reports claim that game sales didn’t spike along with the hardware sales.

The lack of increasing game sales is blamed on the three big releases the week before the price cut on the hardware with Army of Two, Bully and MX vs. ATV hitting stores last week.
