Sony caused some controversy this week after asking customers to cough up $49.99 to remove trail software from new Sony VAIO notebooks. Now Sony has backtracked from that very unpopular move and from today on the Sony's Fresh Start software optimization feature will be free.

The Sony Fresh Start option is only available on Vaio TZ2000 and Vaio TZ2500 notebooks.
Sony notebooks like many others are known to come pre-installed with lots of unnecessary software clutter. It would be a fine move from Sony to offer a clean install option on all their notebooks.
