BBC News announced today that people in China are now able to access English language stories on the BBC News website in full. This reportedly marks the first time in years that access to such stories have been available to Chinese readers because of the strict control china exerts over the Internet in its country.

BBC staffers in China say they are now able to access news stories that would have previously been blocked, including stories about Tibet. Access to sites in Chinese and websites with links in Chinese are still being blocked.

Reports say that China has never admitted to blocking access to BBC stories, but typically Chinese readers get an error message saying that the connection was reset. Now they get the actual story.
