Fans of the GTA IV series in the UK may have been worried about seeing another scandal like the one with Manhunt 2 when rumors began circulating that GTA IV had been denied a BBFC rating. According to Register Hardware, the rumor has been confirmed as false.

GTA IV is scheduled to go on sale to adults 18 and over in the UK on April 29th and according to the BBFC it was just awarded a classification. The rumor of a rating denial stems from documents the BBFC released early that were somehow misinterpreted by bloggers.

The document detailing why exactly the game received the rating it did will be released ten days before the game goes on sale. Reportedly the BBFC was worried about some game content as it describes how to make a drug with specific ingredients, but the BBFC found the ingredients didn’t make a real drug.
