The BBC says that its iPlayer video service will soon be coming to the Nintendo Wii console. According to the BBC early versions of the service will be available starting today and a final and more polished version will be available at a later date.

The BBC has also been saying recently that the number of iPlayer users is growing very swiftly and the availability of it on the Wii will help grow those numbers even more. That is assuming Nintendo could get enough Wii’s on the market that is, then the service could be huge.

ISP’s and the BBC are currently fighting it out over who has to pay for the costs associated with the increased network burden that the iPlayer is causing. Tiscali is trying to get the BBC to pay for upgrades required for its service.
