Another year free calls from Gmail

If you've been enjoying free Gmail voice calls to your Gmail contacts during 2012, you'll be glad to hear that Google has announced it plans to extend the service for the US and Canada throughout 2013. Gmail users can continue to get free voice calls using the Gmail chat widget.

The free voice call service has been around since 2010 and has been expected to end each year only to be extended by Google. The Gmail Voice calling service is based on Google Voice and offers free domestic calls. Google Voice is an interesting service that hasn't been updated in a long time.

Unpopular or not, it's good to see Google extend the free voice call service for another year. Google has been shutting down its unpopular and unprofitable services so it's rather surprising to see the free voice call service continue.
