Memory card allows file transfers by touch

Toshiba has announced that it will be on hand at CES 2013 early next month to show off a new reference SDHC memory card. The memory card has integrated TransferJet wireless transfer technology. The memory card on display at the show will be a product that is still under development.

The memory card will include a TransferJet transceiver IC, a coupler, and RF filter, peripheral passive parts, and a SD bridge connection circuit combined with Toshiba NAND flash memory. Wireless transfer technology inside the memory card allows the user to pick a file they want to share using an on-screen menu.

To share the product with another compatible device, all the user has to do is touch the two devices together. The file transfer technology promises to be fast and to use little power.
