Low-Cost iPhone is Real?

Yesterday a report from Asia suggested that Apple will release a low-cost iPhone this year. Now two big publication confirm that rumor.

Yesterday we carried a rumor from Digitimes that Apple plans to release a low-cost iPhone aimed at the developing countries. Now WSJ and Bloomberg carry the same rumor referring to own sources.

As said yesterday this rumor is not new and Apple is said to work on a low-cost iPhone since years. Now though Apple is supposed to be in the final stages, but according to the Wall Street Journal, the company could still scrap the project.

As Apple continues to sell previous iPhone models, I am not quite sure how a new low-cost iPhone would fit in. I think that the new iPhone model needs more than just a lower price. As said yesterday, Apple needs to appeal to consumers that prefer the Samsung Android phones to keep up with the Korean power house.
