The Mercedes-Benz Superdome history started in the 70s. The Superdome re-opened after complete renovation in 2006 after it got famous as shelter after Hurricane Katrina. The stadium has invested $85 million in new upgrades since 2010. The post-Katrina improvements have sustained the Dome’s legendary history while offering the fans all of the advantages of new design and the latest technology. These spectacular upgrades have transformed the iconic facility into one of the finest in all of sports.

When Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans on Aug. 29, 2005, an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 people sought protection inside the Superdome. The stadium served as refuge of last resort for those who had no means of leaving during a mandatory evacuation of the city.

On Super Bowl Sunday over 76,000 fans will find a seat in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Super Bowl 2013 TV Broadcast
CBS is broadcasting the 2013 Super Bowl in the United States. The Super Bowl 2013 pre-game coverage starts hours ahead of the Super Bowl XLVII kickoff. In past years pre-game coverage started at 2pm Eastern.
The Super Bowl 2013 game coverage starts at 6:00pm Eastern and the Super Bowl 47 kick-off is set for 6:30pm.

Main National TV stations around the world will broadcast the big game as well, but you will not get to see the Super Bowl ads outside of the United States.
