Apple Returned 8 Million iPhones to Foxconn

A new report from China says that Apple sent back a stunning 8 million iPhones to manufacturer Foxconn as the devices failed to meet quality standards.

A new report says that massive numbers of iPhones failed the internal quality test of Apple. China Business (Via The Register) has a report that says that Apple has sent back as many as 8 million iPhones to Foxconn.

If Foxconn cannot repair the units they would suffer a financial hit of about $1.6 billion ($200 per iPhone).

The report is not specifying which iPhone model had to be sent back. If we do not see any supply issues of for the iPhone 5 and for the iPhone 4S in the coming weeks than it could have been one of the rumored two new iPhones. If that is the case than the launch of iPhone 5S or the low-cost plastic iPhone could be delayed.
