Jonathan Ive, Apple’s visionary, has undertaken a software overhaul that might just prove to be a risky venture in the end. The iOS 7 may be delayed in its launch into the market thanks to this action taken by Ive. Whether the Apple ace has some other cards up his sleeve is another story altogether.
The new operating system may get its debut date procrastinated thanks in no small part to Jonathan Ive’s risky business tactics. Ive happens to be product design in-charge at Apple and he has a habit of being creatively unpredictable. This time however, the gamble may have not been worth it, reported Bloomberg News. The stakes are too high. Ive, who is in his middle age, is looking forward with gusto to redesigning and revamping the look of so many apple products. The man has an innovation bug in his brain.

Ive has even managed to cause greater cooperation between the hardware and software divisions in Apple. Steve Jobs used to call Ive his spiritual partner. That shows the level of extraordinary trust and mutual faith the two had in each other. However, this constant transformation in product design comes at a price and that is impracticality. The iOS 7 will be delayed in its introduction into the market due to Ive’s decisions. And whereas Ive and Jobs had a lot of understanding between them, its doubtful if the new guy at Apple, Tim Cook will tolerate this eccentric behavior. Without a Steve Jobs to act as a creative foil, can Ive continue in his role?
Ives has previously collaborated with Steve Jobs to create a number of products including the iPad, the iPod and the iPhone. Nevertheless his strong suite remains hardware and not its alternative. And he is not into fame-garnering. The man shuns all celebrity status. But this issue of getting products out and ready for sale in time is crucial. There was strife following Steve’s death and only later on did the matter resolve itself considerably.
Apple began with the crunchy bitten logo in colorful rainbow fashion. It symbolized the passion its creators felt for their enterprise. Steve Jobs himself was such a marvelous man that he had an official salary of $1 according to the grapevine at Apple. While he did control the organization with an iron fist, nevertheless he did not embezzle anything from the company’s treasury. Rather Steve was the sort of guy who believed in power more than money and looked to vanity as a source of meaning in life. And Jonathan Ive was his right hand man. Whether Jonathan survives well without Steve to challenge and respond to is a reasonable question. Apple is under a lot of pressure lately to get its act together. Ive will have to be very careful if he is to lead the company towards a progressive future.
