Xbox One Design Explained

Microsoft offers a closer look at the new Xbox One design and how it was created.

The Xbox One has a new design the is clean and boxy. Not everybody likes it, but then, it will just stand in your TV shelf. With the black color it will be invisible pretty quickly. Apparently though there went a lot of effort into the industrial design of the Xbox One.

“Xbox has always had something to say. It’s always been bold with a strong personality,” said Carl Ledbetter, Creative Director, Industrial Design. “Xbox One needs to serve our most loyal gaming fans and deliver unique entertainment experiences, so its design has to make an appropriate statement that reflects its capability as an all-in-one entertainment system.”

Before the Microsoft team arrived at the final design of the Xbox One, the team created 200 controller models, more than one hundred different versions of the Kinect sensor and “dozens and dozens” of console prototypes.
