Acer Iconia W3 is world's first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet

Students, rejoice! Want a tablet that comes pre-installed with Microsoft Office? Acer's got your back.

Today, at Computex 2013, Acer announced the 8-inch Acer Iconia W3 tablet. Apart from being the first 8-inch tablet running Windows 8, it also has Microsoft's productivity suite, Office Office Home & Student 2013, and don't even think about paying for it, because it's apparently free, sort of.

Acer markets the Iconia W3 as a tablet that can be used "comfortably" in one hand. It's presumably suited for reading and web browsing, although it's not limited to boring paperwork as it's also a great tablet for games.

The Iconia W3 is powered by an Intel Atom processor and its 8.1-inch LED-backlit display adds a 1280 x 800 resolution and 720p video on it. As for its availability, pre-orders will start tomorrow, June 4th, via retailers. Pricing has yet to be announced.
