E-Ink Announces New 1.73" Flexible Mobius Display for Smart Watches

E Ink Inc. has launched a new TFT technology for Mobius products called 1.73" flexible display. This new rugged display is specially designed to support smart watches and its applications. It is going to be use commercially for first time in Sonostar watch.

E Ink Holdings Inc., the very first Taiwan's ePaper and TFT makers, has announced today an update of its Mobius product. The products of Mobius are based on EPD technology which now adds today a brand new 1.73" display. E Ink is formed by YFY group which is one of the biggest printing and paper making group in Taiwan.

This new addition in Mobius EPD line of products is specially made to support watch apps and smart-watches. This new flexible display is based on E Ink's trademark TFT technology. Sonostar Smartwatch is released in Taipei, Taiwan during the Computex conference held in this week and it is one of the highlighted products of this June 4-8 event. This smartwatch is going to be the very first product to use the new 1.73" flexible display on commercial basis. This Sonostar smartwatch is actually a product of a joint venture in between Sonostar and Transmart Co. Ltd which is another subsidiary of the E Ink.

The 1.73" Mobius display is actually an ideal tech for the smartwatch makers because of its features and display size that supports 320X240 pixels with 16 greyscale levels. Also it is power saving technology as it take very less power while usage and it is very light in weight and rugged too. It also have an extra added feature of sunlight readability and this display can also be take any shape that you like.
