Samsung is offered to manufacture 'Facebook Phone'. Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly asks Samsung executives to make a Facebook friendly phone in a meeting on Tuesday.

Mark Zuckerberg is currently visiting South Korea. He is doing a lot of activities there including an in news meeting with executives of Samsung Electronics. Yesterday, the young Zuckerberg met with the heir Lee Jay-yong and mobile unit chief Shin Jong-kyun of Samsung Electronics. A lot of speculations and rumors are circling regarding this meeting. It is being widely speculated that Mark Zuckerberg actually asks Samsung to become the maker of its "Facebook-friendly” phone.

But according to The Korea Herald report, Samsung is not interested in making a Facebook phone. The reasons given behind this decline are:

  • Facebook wants to be in smartphone industry like Google. But Samsung does not want a new rival like second Google because competition is already very tough for it.
  • The image of Facebook is more of a social media website. It does not really match with the Samsung world class image.
  • Facebook will be really happy to "IN" in handset industry. Yet Samsung does not foresee any benefits to become the maker of Facebook Phone.

Mark Zuckerberg had met with the Korean President , Park Geun-hye, before visiting Samsung headquarters. Yet he had not met with the head of LG Electronics, Koo Bon-joon. While in his last years visit to Korea, co-founder of Google, Larry Page met with both heads of Samsung and LG.
