Facebook Reader with Flipboard-like design reportedly in the works

When Facebook announced Video for Instagram last week, we though that the rumors of a news reader app from the social networking giant was a mistake.

But according to the Wall Street Journal, Facebook does have an ambition to become a newspaper for mobile devices. The publication claims that Facebook is working on a app called "Reader" that can aggregate stories from multiple sources.

The app, which is now at work for more than a year, reportedly lets users swipe to flip through articles and stories. If that sounds familiar, then you're probably thinking about Flipboard.

Even more thrilling is Mark Zuckerberg's deep involvement in the project. The Wall Street Journal adds that Zuckerberg is watching the Reader project closely and has even offered "input and reviewed aspects of the design at various turns." When asked about the said project, a Facebook spokesperson declined to comment.
