Yahoo Acquires Xobni for More Than $30M

Yahoo buys email management startup Xobni. This acquisition deal is reportedly done over $30M. Now 31 Xobni employees will join Yahoo including their CEO.

Yahoo acquires Xobni on July 3. Yahoo is on its way to acquire. It looks like that Marissa Mayer has though much more on acquisitions as a first step of her job. Yahoo has already bought micro blogging service Tubmlr for huge $1.1 billion amount in May. After that it acquires iOS photography app maker GhostBird software in June. The company has just acquired iPhone movie making app start-up Qwiki on Tuesday for about $50M. Now Yahoo acquires email management startup Xobni on Wednesday. ATD reports that this acquisition deal is done in between $30M to $40M.

“Oohay!” is the title of blog post that officially announces the merger of Xobni with Yahoo. It states, "It’s a big day here at Xobni. We’ve been acquired by Yahoo! At this moment, we’re unpacking our boxes from San Francisco and settling in to the new Sunnyvale space at Yahoo! HQ." It means that 31 Xobni employees will now join Yahoo including its CEO Jeff Bonforte. Jeff is also an ex-employee of Yahoo.

Marissa Mayer joined Yahoo a year ago. Since then the company has acquired more than a dozen small start-ups in which Tumblr is the biggest one. The company CEO actually wants to increase its revenue by attracting more traffic towards company's online services. She is doing so right now by acquiring many small web start-ups one after another. What is next in the list? Only Marissa Mayer will know it better.
