HTC Profit Goes Down 83% from Last Year in Q2

HTC sales experience a huge slump. The earnings report of Q2 2013 shows that its profit falls down by 83% from last year. But as compared to Q1 2013, HTC profit increases.

HTC sales are really suffering these days. Despite of launching its new flagship of HTC One, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer is still facing a huge profit slump. The company has just announced its second quarter unaudited earnings report for 2013. These results are really bad as compared to its last year Q2 earnings. HTC profit goes down 83% from last year.

HTC made total revenue of NT$70.7 billion/ $2.35 billion in three months of second quarter. But the profits are just NT$1.25 billion/ $41.63 million. This is really below what analysts estimated as they expected it to be NT$2.0 billion. But in second quarter of last year, HTC revenue is NT$91.04 billion/ $3 billion which has NT$7.40 billion/ $246 million profit.

But these results are far much better than the previous quarter of current year. HTC profit in first quarter of 2013 sees a record down fall. HTC One and colorful Butterfly range smartphones saw very good sales in Q2. This increases company profits in Q2. Earning results also show a slight upward trend in revenues month by month. As from April to May 2013, it rises from 23% to 48% respectively. The company is also hoping more from HTC One whose sales is now around 5 million units. HTC One has earned $70 million profit till now. The company is hoping more from it. All the company hopes to earn good profits are now relying on HTC One sales.
