Is Google's new Nexus 7 will be a flop? Just 3.5M global shipments of the device are expected by the end of this year. What will be the reason of such lesser sale?

Google can ship only 3.5 million units of its new Nexus 7 tablets by the end of this year. The latest version of Google's Android tablet is just launched few days before at the end of July. Full 5 months are reaming in this year. But the estimated amount to be sold till end of 2013 is very small. Just 3.5M units are expected to be sold. The first-generation Nexus 7 shipments just reach 6M units till now after a year of its July 2012 launch.

What will be the reason behind this sale failure? Actually new Nexus 7 has to face tough competition with other 7-inch tablets and it is also not going to be launched in world's biggest tech market in China. These are the two big reasons that will drop sales of Nexus 7 2.

Google cannot launch any of its devices in China since 2010. The tech giant had refused to comply with the China government's Internet policies 3 years ago. Since then, Google products are banned in China. Even the ASUS brand tag can not convince China government to allow the launch of second-generation Nexus 7 in the country, according to Digitimes sources. But Asustek own entry-level 7-inch MeMO Pad HD 7 tablet is one of the best selling devices in China available to purchase at CNY299 for the 16GB model.

The Chinese customers that will buy new Nexus 7 from abroad have to pay after-sales service charges to Asustek China. New Nexus 7 tablet will hit Taiwan market at any time in current month of September.
