MakerBot has come out with its $1400 Digitizer to solve our desktop 3D scanning problems in a jiffy. Pre-orders of the device are open now. MakerBot will ship it in this October at a total of $1550 adding $150 makercare fee.
The price of the MakerBot Digitizer is $1400. While this is a little too close for comfort yet in return for shelling out this amount you get a lot. You may copy any small trinkets you want to and later on produce 3D schema of the objects of desire. It functions very efficiently. You just allow the product to nestle on the placement disk. Then you turn on the device and a number of lasers measure the contours of the thing you have put in the confines of the Digitizer. Pretty soon you will have access to the necessary data which can then be fed into a 3D printer. This will reproduce an exact secondary version of the original. The former process only takes 12 minutes of your time. And the latter real-life production takes place quickly too.

MakerBot CEO Bre Pettis states in official announcement, “Bringing the MakerBot Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner into the world has been a big goal of ours this year. We are really excited about the MakerBot Digitizer. This is another innovative product for visionaries, early adopters, experimenters, educators, creative hobbyists, 3D sculptors, organic modelers, designers and architects who want to be the first to become an expert in Desktop 3D Scanning.”
A few points need to be clarified. The platform cannot take a weight above 3 kg. And the gadget ought to be used in a fully-illuminated room. Furthermore, the price tag is a bit steep. Of course, such a wonderful device doesn’t come cheap. The company has tried to make 3D printing a casual process instead of the difficult task it normally is. Before the Digitizer came on the scene, you either had to seek previously produced models or make ones yourself. It was backbreaking work. But now all the effort has been taken out of the means to an end. Technology has once again made things easier. The company has started taking pre-orders and shipping will begin in October. Total amount of $1550 will be charged for the device that includes $1400 MakerBot Digitizer price and $150 makercare price.
