Amazon Increased Free Shipping Minimum Order Size

Amazon has quietly increased the minimum order size from $25 to $35. Blame it on Walmart. Walmart announced their free shipping for the holidays at a $50 minimum purchase requirement.

Amazon increased the minimum order size for the Free Super Saver Shipping from $25 to $35. This is a pretty historic move. As far as I can remember it was always $25. The timing is a bit weird as the holiday shopping season is about to start. On the other hand Amazon still has the best free shipping offer compared to Walmart and other big online retailers. The Walmart free shipping offer for the holidays requires a minimum of $50 purchase.

Amazon also still offers a way to avoid shipping costs with the Prime membership. Prime members get free 2-day shipping without order minimums. The Prime membership is $79 per year and also comes with unlimited instant streaming offer and free kindle ebook borrowing. Get a free trail here.

Amazon will have another huge Black Friday sale this year that will climax in the Amazon Black Friday 2013 sales week. I do not expect to have the change in the free shipping option to have any impact on Amazon's holiday sales.

This year Black Friday is rather late falling on November 29th, 2013. Last year, Black Friday was on November 23rd. Retailers will have four full weeks to please you with special Black Friday 2013 sales until the culmination of the actual Black Friday and the encore on Cyber Monday 2013 (December 2nd). According to Black Friday Countdown there are 37 days until Black Friday 2013. We will again provide full analysis and guidance of Black Friday Ads and Deals in our Black Friday Hub.
