The Obama administration has issued orders that the United States Marine Corps hats should get a makeover. The fact that these headgear are in for a radical change has upset many people’s sentiments. The charge is that the new unisex hats have a girly look.

With the government antics at an all-time high, the problem of hats for the Marine Corps has given rise to a storm in a teacup. The brave and resolute individuals who form the bulk of the Marine Corps are strong, valiant and energetic. They display the manly virtues of perseverance, patience and pride.

Yet the new hats that are being imposed on this branch of the armed forces have been criticized as being too feminine and oddly “French” in their delicateness. The unisex version of hats that President Obama has ordered by government writ to be worn by the Marine Corps, smack of mawkish sentimentality.

The completely renovated look for the Marine Corps has been called “Cover” and “Dan Daly” and reeks of the effeminate. They are literally a frill-based decoration. This particular design in hats was used by the Marine Corps a long time ago at the start of the 19th century.

The radical change has been described by annoyed commentators as ridiculous and an unnecessary complication of what was a simple fact. The shift to the new hats would also cost more than changing to a uniform male model. The latter would have been a better choice according to many who see this transformation as sheer wastage of money.
