Firefox OS run phones from Telefónica were just officially launched in three new Latin American countries. That accelerates the Mozilla-brewed mobile Operating System’s global growth in the smart phone market.

Telefónica Inc. is bringing the ZTE Open model and Alcatel One Touch Fire model to Mexico. In Peru, this carrier is launching the ZTE Open one and in Uruguay, the Alcatel One Touch Fire is hitting the market. Firefox OS-run phones have already been available in Colombia and Venezuela.

Telefónica has also been busy with their new LG Fireweb Firefox OS-based smart phone, which got launched last month in Brazil. A broader reach into the different geographic markets around the world has long been part of the Firefox OS strategy. In addition to the Latin American countries, Firefox OS is going to make inroads in Greece, Poland, Hungary and also, Germany.

Li Gong, the Mozilla hardware chief says in a recent interview with VentureBeat that In India, many of the parts of the country don’t have WiFi or wireless coverage or sometimes, much power either. But these people would like a little phone where their whole family can huddle around it and they can make calls or watch TV from it. There is a lot of usage of smart devices that does not conform to the North American idea of how things should be.

Firefox Operating System got a vision and that is not to be the only high-end but to serve the unserved people and the underserved ones.

To that very end of this, these devices are pared-down for the first-time smart phone users and they are priced affordably for all geographies and income levels people who want to buy a smart phone but can’t get one due to high price. Firefox OS-based mobiles are getting fame faster, and one day it might hold a strong share in the world smart phone market.
