Madonna still got it after all these years in the music business. She leads the new Forbes ranking of the highest paid musicians.

Madonna is 55 and still shows the young music pop stars how it is done. According to the new Forbes 2013 Highest-paid Musician ranking Madonna earned $125 million. Lady Gaga is a distant second with $80 million.

How is Madonna doing it? Most of the money she earned in the past year comes from her MDNA Tour, which grossed $305 million. That means Madonna has a huge fan base that wants to see her live in concert and are willing to pay hefty fees for the tickets. Let's also not forget that Madonna starred in the Super Bowl 2013 half-time show, exposing her to a giant audience.

The live concerts are in general the biggest cash maker for musicians. Of course you need to be among the most popular artists to command full concert halls at high ticket prices to make that happen.

One band that knows how to do it is Bon Jovi, they are ranked third with $79 million. See the full ranking Highest-paid Musician on Forbes. Watch the latest video interview with Madonna about the Secret Project Revolution with Vice.
