Pinterest is one interesting site that invites its user base to engage in some offline activities as well as the online double clicking. With its new Place Pins program, it dares explorers to travel further and really see everything that is worth seeing in this world.

The trend started a year ago. Pinners, who visit Pinterest, were creating a community of shared knowledge regarding hot spots and places worth visiting. Over 1.5 million places are pinned on a daily basis by users of the highly interesting picturesque service. By now, a record number of these Pins, amounting to 750 million, have accumulated on Pinterest. The wishes of those with a lot of wanderlust are about to get fulfilled with the launch of Place Pins. The Place Pins sees to it that precisely that need is assuaged.

Pinterest Product Designer, Justin Edmund, states in official blog, "Place Pins were designed to combine the beautiful imagery of a travel magazine with the utility of a map online so you can share it with friends. You can access them from anywhere on your smartphone, too, which means you can find new places on the go and even get directions!"

Place Pins is a curious mix of travel guide and in-depth map. And the really exciting thing is you can share it with as many friends as you like. They are all within reach anytime anywhere. You may learn new routes and discover thrilling places from each other via the network.

The contact details of a great many tourist attractions are listed so that if you have any plans of visiting them you may get directions directly from the source. You may choose the “Add a Map” feature or create a board of friends at your discretion. There are so many places to explore that you will be spoilt for choice.

Edmund also said, "Place Pins are our first effort to make Pinterest more useful for travel. It follows other ways we’re making your Pins more actionable in real life, including Product, Article, Movie and Recipe Pins. We hope you find Place Pins helpful, and we can’t wait to see your new place boards."
