ZTE will Sell its Smartwatch for Lower Price

The Chinese company, ZTE is to enter the smartwatch race next year. It will be coming out with its own smartwatch version that is to match technological wits with the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Gear but at lower price. And ZTE's first smartwatch will only work with its on smartphones just like Galaxy Gear works only with its own devices.

After Samsung came along with its high-end Galaxy Gear smartwatch, it was only a matter of time before cheaper versions were slated to come out from other quarters. The most recent example of this is a Chinese conglomerate known as ZTE. This company is famous for its telecom services not to mention a smartphone. But with its entry into the smartwatch rat race, the game has taken on an altogether new meaning.

Not only is the smartwatch by ZTE to cater to a mass audience, it will sell at a reasonable rate. Lu Qianhao, head of the Shenzhen-based ZTE’s handset marketing strategy, said, “We are focusing on the mainstream market.” And while the smartwatch will be showcased during the first quarter of 2014, it will get sold during the second quarter of next year. Initially, it will be up for grabs in the Chinese market. Later on though, Europe and the United States will be taken into consideration too.

The smartwatch by ZTE is slated to work in conjunction with its own smartphones only. In future times, other smartwatches may get manufactured that operate on Android operating systems though. Meanwhile, ZTE has big plans for the times to come. It will be creating wearable technology in the form of glasses and even shoes.

This is not the first time that China has made a bold foray into what is essentially a foreign venture. The Chinese are a nation of hardworking people who never quit. That may be one reason why China is fast becoming the focus of global enterprise.
