The famous Tobii Technology, which is the global leader in the eye tracking technology, has recently announced the introduction of their Tobii EyeX Engine; which is a new middleware that is going to further drive the adoption of the eye tracking in the mainstream applications and the devices.

Using this Tobii EyeX Engine together with the Tobii’s globally leading eye-tracking hardware, the developers can easily and rapidly create a real natural, mostly intuitive, and a consistent user experience across a wide range of useful applications. The Tobii EyeX Developer Kit, which is available for only $195, also includes the new Tobii EyeX Engine and the SDK, which is the Tobii EyeX Controller – and a brand new eye tracking device, which is out-of-the-box functionality through a variety of the Windows-based applications, and also, direct access to the developer community.

The Tobii EyeX Engine is really a unique and a powerful middleware which provides a wide set of predefined user interactions which easily combines the eye gaze with some other modalities such as the keyboard and the touchpad. The Tobii EyeX Engine also does take care of the framework around their application, including the functions such as calibrations and the screen configurations and some advanced data filtering techniques.

This easily makes it possible for the developers to rapidly add an eye tracking capability to their application, while it also ensures that the users get a consistent and an intuitive user experience by making the most common actions of this technology, such as clicking or scrolling or zooming and also, switching – all has become more intuitive and natural and fun.
