Bikini Bridge Trend Sparks Outrage

A new trend out in cyberspace is the bikini bridge. Just like the thigh gap was the latest meme last year, this year the bikini bridge is the in thing. And the unrealistic thinness needed to sport one has sparked outrage among the health care experts online.

It is not very clear whether it is for real or a fake copy meant to delude all the anorexics and bulimics. The most recent trendsetting issue on the Internet is the bikini bridge. A space where your genitals normally are is what this cultural object of desire is. But is it actually possible to achieve?

This has been a controversial matter indeed. For the level of thinness necessary to allow for this unique anatomical oddity is extreme. And with the previous year’s thigh gap, the bikini bridge has acquired a magical aura of its own. Many have warned of the consequences of such model behavior though.

In a nation beset with eating disorders and body dysmorphic disorder, such photos and images of total perfection are the worst form of poison. Many have argued that such a level of fitness is impossible to reach and will only spark perfectionist tendencies among those who already feel discontent with their bodies.

But a site known as 4chan has made the picture of a bikini bridge go viral which is a shame. Most fat people don’t feel good about their appearance, and these images will only spread misery and unhappiness thanks to the inferiority complex they will engender.

The images have exploded on the Internet and have caused a sort of panic among people. Many feminists are angry at the injustice and misogyny displayed by such unrealistic pictures of supposed physical perfection.
