Nintendo World Championships Game Sold for $100,000

Amazing amount of money got bid for a rare Nintendo World Championship Cartridge that was not even mint condition. A fan won the auction at $99,902.

There are true video game nerds out there and some have apparently very deep pockets. A rare Nintendo World Championship cartridge from 1990 just sold on eBay for close to $100,000. You read that right. Someone dropped $100k on a used game cartridge. There have been a couple of bidders that drove the price up to the amazing amount in the last couple of hours of the bidding. So the winning bid is likely very real.

The cartridge was part of a limited edition that Nintendo made for an event back in 1990. There are supposed only 116 copies. It still does not really explain the ultra-high price for it. The guy who sold the game says that there will be more coming as he is parting with his Nintendo collection. I guess after this record bid, he will be eager to sell more of his items and retire. Watch below the game play of the Nintendo World Championship game for NES. The price is not because of the awesome gameplay experience.
