The royal family in Spain has been under the spotlight lately due to its alleged corruption. In particular, Princess Cristina and her husband are to go on trial for embezzlement charges which have been brought against them.

Those who are responsible for others need to be held responsible for themselves as well. After General Franco’s death, the royal family in Spain has still enjoyed a lavish lifestyle. They get to go scot-free for all the perks they take, while the unemployment rate in the Land of Bullfighting is close to 26%.

At present, Princess Cristina, the daughter of King Juan Carlos has being summoned to a court in Majorca to answer some tough questions. Money laundering and tax evasion are just two of the allegations that have been blamed on her as well as her husband. The public is crying for blood. They want these high and mighty untouchables to feel the pinch due to their wrongdoing.

But the Princess will most probably get a light sentence. It is her husband who will get caught by the long arm of the law. The princess smiled and reserved her greetings for the cameras but made no further comments. She has kept her cool regarding the whole issue.

Many in the crowd that was demonstrating outside with banners in their hands were applauding the judge for questioning the motives of these royals. The charges of corruption are not something new though. Someone remarked that the Princess won’t even have her reputation damaged by the charges, far less be liable to pay the consequences.
