Rice Recall of Uncle Ben’s Infused Products

A rice recall has been enforced on Uncle Ben’s infused products after they caused allergic reactions among youngsters. These products are not to be consumed but are meant to be returned to the stores from where they were purchased.

Uncle Ben’s is recalling some of its Mexican Flavored Rice after complaints from various quarters regarding skin rashes and other allergic reactions.

Mars Foodservices is responsible for manufacturing the packaged rice. And its Infused Rice is sold in five and 25 pound bags respectively. Many of the other products by Uncle Ben’s will remain unaffected by this recall. People in certain educational institutes in Houston had developed rashes and flushing symptoms after eating the products.

However, the symptoms vanished after two hours. Nevertheless, just to be on the safe side, a rice recall is being implemented. The company has acted decisively by pulling all the infused rice products from supermarket shelves.

Mars Foodservices found out that a small quota of the suspect products had been sold via online means as well. Therefore, a warning has been issued by the company that no such product is to be consumed no matter what.

The corporation is working in close alignment with the FDA. And some of the other flavors found in the infused rice include: roasted chicken, pilaf, saffron, cheese, Spanish, garlic and butter.

Uncle Ben’s rice packages feature an elderly African American man on an orange background. It is among the most popular brand of rice to be found in the United States.
