BitTorrent Live moves from the desktop to the smartphones

We all remember the BitTorrent Live from last year which was launched to help with the broadcast and streaming live video without any charges. And now we will soon be seeing a type of BitTorrent that is going to stream live video on the smartphones. The interesting thing about the BitTorrent Live is that it is peer-to-peer. With this approach, a broadcaster sends a video to a bunch of people who can view it and then forward to another handful of people who will do the same. Only a desktop version of this was available so far but now we have news that a mobile app is on its way. No further details have been given on the type of platform it will be using.

BitTorrent has claimed that the BitTorrent Live has matured in so many ways over the past couple of months but it is still only on beta. The new app which is going to launch later this year will also be in a state which will not be fully completed. The BitTorrent itself has stated that the app will launch in its Alpha mode.

BitTorrent cannot have a competitive advantage when it comes to the small broadcaster because they can use any other channel which offers live broadcasting for free. This is only great for the large scale broadcasters who want to share large contents and without spending money. Instead they can be looking forward to making money off it.
