HBO’s online video service, HBO GO, has been a long-time app on the Xbox 360 and myriad other devices.

Now the app has finally made its way to the PlayStation 3—just in time for Game of Thrones.

While it’s been a long time coming, this is still good news for PS3 owners, even if it is odd that the app would only land on the system after both the Xbox One and PS4 hit shelves.

According to Sony, the service will go live at some point today.

“Watch every episode of every season of the HBO’s best shows, including True Detective, Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones,” writes Sony’s Phil Rosenberg in a blog post. “Speaking of Game of Thrones, with the season 4 premiere airing on April 6th, you’ve got more than a month to get caught up on the first three amazing seasons. If you haven’t seen the latest season 4 trailer, click here to check it out.”

Rosenberg also notes that Sony is “working diligently with HBO to bring the HBO GO app to PS4.”

A PS Vita app would also be nice, especially since you can already watch HBO GO on mobile phones and tablets.

For that matter, a stand-alone HBO Go app—not attached to a pesky and expensive cable TV subscription—would be even better. HBO has done this already in the Nordic region; here’s to hoping they make a similar move in the US.

P.S. I’ll be reviewing the next season of Game of Thrones so stay tuned.
