PS4 sales hit 6M milestone thanks to Japanese Launch

Sony hits another milestone with Ps4 console

Unless you live under a rock, you know that Sony launched the PS4 late last year. The console has proven to be very popular and has sold millions of units. Sony has now announced that the PS4 has sold 6 million units since it launched. That means that the console added another 700k units to its sales total in less than a month.

The last numbers we heard were that over 5.3 million units had been sold. Sony is saying that a chunk of that new sales have come thanks to the launch of the console in Japan. Along with the tip that sales have hit 6 million units, Sony is also offering up some other details on the console and its use.

Sony says that in the US more than 90% of all PS4 consoles are online. Another interesting fact is that over 3.6 million live broadcasts have been made from the PS4 with 56 million live spectate sessions via Twitch and Ustream.

One of the interesting details is that more than 100 million shares have been made sing the share button on the PS4 controller. Developers are also starting to bake in some new ways to share gaming glory in their games. Sony says that Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition will have a built-in Broadcast+ Mode letting you stream game play to viewers on the PS4 or a web browser.
